  • Herein, we expose CeO2 with addition of n-type semiconducting material In2O3 heterostructured nanocomposites (NCs) gas sensor material with high sensing performance at room temperature. CeO2-In2O3 NCs were fabricated by using chemical methods such as sol-gel and co-precipitation methods. Prepared pure CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) and CeO2-In2O3 NCs were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) to confirm their crystal structure. Gas sensing properties of pure CeO2 (NPs) and CeO2-In2O3 NCs were studied at room temperature and observed the superior sensing properties of CeO2−In2O3 NCs towards ethanol. Further from the gas sensing studies we have concluded that the CeO2-In2O3 gas sensor has shown high response, sharp response and recovery times, and stability. Improved sensing performance of CeO2-In2O3 NCs has been ascribed to the n-n heterojunction formed between n-CeO2 and n-In2O3 interfaces.
