Beschreibungen/Notizen
A misanthropic strain takes many forms in Kant's thought, from the seeming coldness in his ethic with its insistence upon duty over emotion, to his morally pessimistic claim that human beings are universally and radically evil. which he defends on oth religious and anthropological grounds. When these claims are read together, the situation can seem rather dim, with human beings possessing neither much of a capacity for love, nor being particularly deserving of it. This article explores Kant's account that a degree of cultivated coldness is both morally necessary for dutiful action and anthropologically convenient given the sort of creatures we are.
