  • It is seen that when we describe Turkish equivalent of Time Lapse it is stated as ’’aralıklı çekim, zaman atlamalı çekim, zaman aşımı fotoğrafçılığı, zaman aralıklı görüntüleme, hızlandırılmış çekim, süreç görüntüleme’’meanings. Essentially, Time Lapse can be realised with two methods. First method is done with playing a recorded video by expediting. Second method is showing all shots consecutively by taking photos with camera. In Time Lapse, photographs which are taken in a determined period of time is combined by a software. Combined photographs are recorded in a video format by montaging as 24-30 shots per a second properly. When Photographs which are taken in a determined time period are played in a video speed, time moves faster and therefore it seems that time goes fast. For example, an image of a scene is taken once in 5 seconds, then it is played as it is in 25-30 shots per second. As a result, there is a significant acceleration on image. The process which seems long on human’s eye, such as clouds which are proceeded in the sky, growing process of a plant, mid-season time periods are presented as abbreviated. Due to the perceptual impression of expediting of time, time lapse technique makes it possible by perceiving and emphasizing some processes such as movements of clouds, motion of the sky, stars, the Moon. Time Lapse, which is accepted as a cinematographic technique, was initiated in consequence of Eadweard Muybridge’s ‘’Running Horses’’ study. Muybridge, obtained the first images of a running horse by ed to a disk. Photograph which made fast progress technically from 19th century until today, gave place to digital period instead of film and dark room. In this context, benefit from the possibilities of technology, Time Lapse shot technique became applicable with a single camera. One of the biggest problem of Time Lapse technique is the loss of details which comprises as a result of overexpose intensity. In this study, it was thought that it is going to be beneficial to use Time Lapse Technique more actively to carry out to success and make contributions to information that is about techniques that are used together which helps to annihilate the problem by HDR technique to give information about how to be reached to the result. Technology, which is undeniable bringing of the World has created improvements in Time Lapse Method just as HDR technique. When it is required to photograph a subject, it is seen as the easiest choice to leave it to the automatic pose measuring system of the camera to specify the values of diaphragm and instantaneity for the necessary calculations for the scene. Although the exposure options of the camera provide easiness according to the subject, it may not be the right choice with regard to image. The camera has certain limits on recording the details of the brightest and darkest parts of a scene, whether at entry level or professional level. When photographing the high contrast subjects, it is inevitable that the details in the dark regions will be lost when the dark regions are referenced while the details in the light region are lost when they are exposed. Having a certain standard of high dynamic range that the cameras can record causes detail loss in the result of the captured image. The HDR (Hight Dynamic Range) technique which is developed to annihilate these reasons, can record the entire dynamic range of the photographed subject. The duration of the HDR technique, except shutter (aperture), diaphragm, focusing, ISO etc. keeping the settings constant is the process of delivering three or more shots taken at different exposure values to the desired result with soft and dark tone matching through the software. Using HDR photographs in the formation of time-lapse videos, more successful results were achieved by providing images close to the dynamic range seen by human eyes. In this context, time lapse and HDR techniques were taken into consideration and it was aimed to draw attention to the importance of using HDR technology in shooting in the direction of Time Lapse photography and to remove the detail loss of the image due to the high contrast light of the time lapse technique in the implementation phase. As a result of the study, it was observed that the dynamic range was increased by applying HDR in the given sample photographs. The detail loss of the photos with high contrast of the light intensity in the images was removed with the use of the HDR technique, resulting in high image quality in time lapse.
