• Anil: My goal is to help the board shape the Society's activity set by seeing it from an external, nonsafety, senior executive's business perspective. Anil: My skills in how to frame issues brought forward for decision making by the board, how to market ASSP to companies for financial and other support, providing clarity around the differences in managing and providing assurance, strengthening assurance process-these are a few examples of how I can be helpful in this position. Anil: Several things: 1) a short (2- to 5-minute) pause every morning before safety meetings; 2) providing continued education on the neurological basis for mindfulness and how it can improve safety (this creates a mind-set that is more open to learning and applying mindfulness); 3) a variety of practices to help improve individual mindfulness to provide skill sets and tool sets; and 4) access to individual and small team coaching onboard our ships.
