• How well are human resources (HR) managers dealing with the challenges they confront due to globalization? Based on surveys and interviews with senior HR executives, the answer seems to be "not great." While global HR issues are receiving some attention and are being dealt with, global HR competencies within personnel tend to lag strategy implementation. The main challenges that HR managers face regarding globalization are: (1) aligning HR practices with global business strategy, (2) assisting in leading global change processes, (3) enhancing global business strategy, (4) developing future global leaders, and (5) building global corporate cultures. The authors offer recommendations for solving these problems based on findings from the research literature and their experience as consultants to multinational corporations. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
