In 1987 the author of the present study already wrote about the memoirs of András Hory on the pages of this review. Important parts of the memoirs themselves, which amount to some 80 author’s sheet, were published by Gondolat Kiadó also in 1987. In 2015, upon request from Poland, he prepared those parts of Hory’s memoirs, which concern his years in Warsaw, for publication in Polish. While the edition of 1987 was limited to selected parts, the volume about to be published in Polish in 2016 contains in full what was written by Hory about his years in Warsaw. Another important difference (and a marked strong point of the Polish version) is that the coming volume also publishes several related diplomatic documents from the period concerned: mostly reports sent by and instructions sent to Hory himself. The present study analyses this source material and proposes several new conclusions on its basis.
