• Advances in the genetics of colorectal cancer have raised the possibility of widespread DNA testing to detect predisposition to hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), but it is premature to offer testing to large groups of high-risk family members until several crucial questions have been addressed. These issues were addressed at the sixth meeting of the International Collaborative Group on HNPCC in Milan Italy on Sep 11, 1994.
