• Clearly, this book comes from the North-American existentialist tradition, whereby the likes of Hubert L. Dreyfus have taken still-thriving European continental philosophy and tuned or rather Amercanised it a bit to make it a little more media-sexy by reflecting popular cultural issues. Still, even if the book has faults, and its sometimes tedious and at worst pretentious, the sum of the parts is rewarding if one happens to be interested in both popular music and philosophy. I admittedly am, and dare to say most of it is well worth reading.
