Switchable Dielectric Constant in the Cyanometalate‐Based Hydrogen‐Bonded [(CH3)2NH2]2(H3O)[Co(CN)6] Framework

An organic–inorganic hybrid compound, [(CH3)2NH2]2(H3O)[Co(CN)6] (1), was synthesized and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, variable‐temperature structural analyses, and dielectric measurements. The compound was found to undergo two reversible structural phase transitions at 161 and 259 K as a result of order/disorder transitions of half of the dimethylammonium cation and the anions, respectively, in the crystal lattice. The phase transition at 161 K triggered a typical dielectric transition with dielectric switching between the high and low dielectric states, which makes this compound a typical hybrid responsive dielectric material with thermally switchable dielectric constant.
Order/disorder transitions of the cations and anions in the organic–inorganic [(CH3)2NH2]2(H3O)[Co(CN)6] hybrid result in dielectric transitions between high and low dielectric states, which makes this compound a switchable dielectric material.
