Translation from original language as provided by authorAs the largest source of atmospheric mercury and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission, mercury and NOX emitted from coal-fired power plants have been identified as a hazardous to both human health and environment. In order to enhance the economic, social and envi-ronment benefits, it is necessary to study the different kinds of pollutions caused by .coal-fired power plants, especially the joint removal of mercury and NOx. The form of mercury species in coal flue gas has a significant influence in removal of mercury in coal combustion. The NaBr and CaBr2 additives were chosen to promote mer-cury oxidation and NO reduction by screening various additives in the paper. Experimental studies were conducted by a lab-scale fixed bed and a fluidized bed reactor to investigate mercury transformations and NO reduction in coal flue gas when firing Shanxi bituminous coal with the NaBr and CaBr2 addition. The experiment considered the combustion temper-ature, different kind
