Translation from original language as provided by authorAs the saying, "what is national is also global" goes, folklore, the fruit of wisdom gained collectively by the mass during long-term productive life, is an important national cultural heritage, as well as the cultural treasure of the entire human race. Many countries have stipulated relevant laws and regulations to protect their own folklore, and the international organizations also have concluded some conventions regarding folklore. At present, however, no consensuses have been reached in terms of basic legal issues including the concept, content and protecting subject of the folklore. With regard to protective mode, there are hundred schools of thought contending. Therefore, this paper consists of four parts, including the Introduction and Conclusion, to discuss the protection of the intellectual property rights of folklore. The Introduction presents the background and meaning of the study, and relates briefly the efforts made by international society
