Translation from original language as provided by authorTense, as a grammatical category, has long been studied, and traditionally it has been defined as a verbial form for expressing time distinctions. However, this definition is always challenged by language facts for there are quite a lot of situations where tense is not used for time distinction. So, the English tense teaching in high school is still worrying both the teachers and the students. Because in the teachers' teaching practice, when they always find tenses are not consistent with time, It's difficult for them to teach the students. But they do not know what causes it. Hence, they either declare those uses as "abnormal uses" or put them under the category of mood, which makes tense of the English verb both difficult to interpret and to learn. As a result, the students they teach are at a loss about how to express themselves with tense and they often make a lot of mistakes concerning tense.
