• Weak health care systems lie at the foundation of the recent Ebola epidemic in West Africa. In this article, Partners In Health physicians discuss their organizations work in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea in the midst of the health crisis, and point to the disproportionate impact of the crisis on pregnant women as an indicator of the strength of health systems in the region.
