Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • The aim of this article is to interpret the term ocapora from the "língua geral" used in two distribution lists of indians from the Jesuit missons in 1750, signed by the missionary Francisco Wolff (1707-1767). We examine the hypothesis that this term would have been employed to denote a relation of subjection among indians inside the mission through the comparison of the same expression in colonial sources, and by the contextualization of the lists of names used in the system of distribution of indigenous manpower according to the Regimento das missoens do Estado do Maranham, & Parà (1686-1757).
