Due to increasing pressure for school counseling programs to effectively address the career development of students and a dearth of outcome research in this area, the author of this study examines a promising new career curricular intervention. Vocational Development of Adolescent Youth (VODAY) is based on social cognitive career theory, uses empirical research in its construction, and aligns with the career development domain of the American School Counselor Association National Standards. This study is an outcome evaluation of the VODAY curriculum utilizing a quasi-experimental control group design and a sample size of 270 seventh grade students. A 2 x 2 MANCOVA was utilized with pre-test scores serving as the covariates. Multivariate analysis indicated a moderate effect size for treatment group and univariate ANCOVAs revealed small to moderate effects specifically for Career Decision-Making Intentions and Goals (CDMIG) and Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy (CDMSE) measures. Results are consistent with past career counseling efficacy studies with middle school students. Limitations and recommendations for future research are discussed.
