• Hans Heusser was the only person apart from Tristan Tzara to have an entire Zurich Dada soiree devoted to his work. Heusser's music was played at almost all the Zurich Dada soirees, and the Cabaret Voltaire. But it has since been ignored. Heusser has been erased from the history and legacy of Dada. Why? This article suggests two answers. One: music in general, for the Zurich Dadaists, is that of which one must not speak; therefore, they did not speak of Heusser's music. Two: reassessing Heusser's contribution would radically challenge our stereoptype of Dada as a movement of noise and provocation.
