• For the third consecutive time, ITHAS took place on a cruise -- this year not at sea, but on a river. While last year's topic addressed 'Managing Tourism in National Parks,' ITHAS 2007 focussed on "Cruise Tourism." Once again 158 students and staff from six different countries came together aboard the "MS Wolga" with a Ukrainian crew to share the unique ITHAS experience for one week. Compared to ITHAS 2005 and 2006 the demand for 2007 far exceeded the number of available spaces. Thanks to perfect logistical planning, a well balanced mix of lectures and discussions, and a well-designed tourism programme, ITHAS combines theoretical lessons, meetings with local tourism experts, and the practical experience of travelling, to offer an ideal platform for theoretical, practical, intercultural and emotional leaning. Understanding each others' culture became a very human encounter and a sharing of meanings and experiences.
