This article offers a reconstruction of the original appearance of the late 15th-century decorations at the east end of the church, on the basis of incompletely published documents and early sources. These include Cima's Baptism altarpiece and its imposing frame, two smaller altarpieces, and a now-demolished choir-screen. Conclusions are drawn regarding the formal relationship between the various decorations, which in turn affect a reading of their iconography.
