On ne peut réduire la communication à sa dimension technologique. Elle doit être rapportée à la société qui la produit et lui donne sa légitimité. Dans la société démocratique, l'absence de transcendance fait que la communication est à elle-même son propre fondement. Ce qui implique une intersubjectivité contingente et fragilisée. Communication cannot be reduced to its technology. It must be judged in relation to the society which produces and legitimates it. In a democracy, the absence of transcendance means that communication has only itself as a foundation. This produces an effect of insubstantial intersubjectivity.
