Unlike imaging, which may show the course of the entire gastric tube, the aforementioned bedside tests only inform the practitioner about the position of a tube's distal end. To the authors' knowledge, this report documents the first instance of a gastric tube knotting around an ETT that went undiscovered until airway compromise occurred on removal near the end of surgery.
