  • By using the perceptual audio coding, the PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) audio signal can be compressed to a low bitrate without audible distortion. Therefore, this technology applies to DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), the Internet music, portable audio and many other applications in the recent years. In the presented thesis, the research of the high-quality coding algorithm for stereo audio signals at 96kbps is focused on, and some new technologies in the time-frequency mapping, the psychoacoustic model, the bit allocation and the correlativity coding are also proposed. The conception of MSDFT (Modified Shift Discrete Fourier Transform) is presented as the connection between the MDCT (Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) and the DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform). By using the MSDFT to eliminate the fluctuation of MDCT spectrum, the precision of inter-frame prediction and the psychoacoustic model can be improved, while the compatibility with MDCT is also available. The psychoacoustic model is the base of the per
