Engraving program plays an important role in engraving technology. It is hard to engrave a complex three dimensions object using conventional engraving process, which has been a bottleneck of engraving technology and promote the research on engraving process. The focus of this dissertation is on the study of machine vision based engraving process and engraving technology, which support a key technology for the development of engraving technology. Image vectorization is the basis of engraving based on monochrome. An auto-adapting adjust approach based on direction module is proposed to track image edges, which optimized paths searched, and an nodes optimization method according to beeline is also put forward to decrease large amounts of short straight lines and ensure sameness of image profile to object prototype.
