This study aimed to verify the immediate repercussions of preparatory labor gymnastic in electromyographic activity of previous deltoid muscle. 19 academics participated of this study of Physical Activity course in Unimontes, and these students were selected intentionally by convenience. The participants signed a consent term and were submitted to eletromyographic evaluation (Root-Mean-Square and maximum torque) on pre and post-test of groups experimental (n=10) and control (n=9). Just the experimental group realized the preparatory labor gymnastic. In statistical treatment, we used descriptive analysis and, to assess the results in pre and post-test, we used the tests of Wilcoxon and t of Student for paired samples. And for the analyses between groups, we used the tests of Mann-Whitney and t Student for independent sample, with a significance level of 5%. As results, it is concluded that preparatory labor gymnastic did not promote significant changes in electro-myographic activity, both in right deltoid (p = .993) and in leftdeltoid (p = .910). However, with labor gymnastic application, the maximum torque presented like reduced in right superior member - RSM (p = .007). Between studied groups, there was significant difference only in torque of RSM (p = .051). So, it is concluded that the preparatory labor gymnastic did not demonstrate immediate changes in eletromyographic activity, with tendency to reduced muscle strength. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
