• This concluding chapter discusses four case studies as examples of cinematic digital television series: WandaVision (2021), the first season of Yellowjackets (2021-2022), the first season of Hacks (2021) and Twin Peaks: The Return (2017). The chapter introduces each series with a short plot summary and analysis of some of the qualities of the series as a whole, before embarking on a discussion of the series that includes some assessments of key scenes and episodes. Throughout, the chapter draws on some of the key concepts raised throughout this book: quality television, aesthetics and style, production strategies and cognitive engagement, and experiential viewing. Each series does things differently, and some do not rely on one or more of these concepts as much as others. These series are not necessarily the "best" examples for each discussion point the chapter raises, but are chosen simply because they are shows that can be easily used to exemplify the key concepts that this book discusses.
