This chapter outlines strategies for empowering students to develop their own stories of outdoor adventure. Students embark on a nature excursion, and, after a series of scaffolded assignments, they ultimately craft their own live story about this experience. Even the simplest of excursions can lead to a story that offers insight and a takeaway thought, demonstrating to students that their voices matter. Noting that students may have minimal experience with outdoor recreation, the chapter also address challenges regarding equitable access to outdoor spaces and offers strategies for equipping students and teachers to navigate them. The assignments described here invite students to reflect on practical ways to have meaningful experiences in the natural world in their own neighborhood, on their own terms. This chapter provides a framework for assignments and activities that teach students to think critically about storytelling and that give them the opportunity to craft a story of their own. It provides a space for students to explore the natural world and to report back so that others may be compelled by their example to go out and experience their own version of the wild.
