To understand the ecosystem of human capital in Thailand, we start with an overview of the economy and industry sectors. Thailand is a member of the ASEAN community of nations and has developed into an export-oriented economy backed by strong human capital. Since national policies heavily influence the priorities of a nation, we examine the education system and government orientation towards human capital development. Thailand has work to do with the education and healthcare systems as there is a significant divide between private and public systems. The rapid growth of Thailand has had an impact on the quality of life, especially in the Bangkok area. The ageing population may be a factor in the future given the reliance of labour in the large agriculture, service, and manufacturing sectors. Considering the human capital ecosystem in Thailand, we conclude with several implications for business leaders including the rich natural resources, improving access to education, labour shortage challenges, and deeping inequality in the society.
