Beschreibungen/Notizen
This chapter traces emotions in migration literature to understand how it has been studied until the present time. It reviews the existing sociological theories on emotion (cultural, symbolic interactionists, power and status, ritual, exchange, and practice theories) and the various definitions of belonging (belonging as fitting in and being accepted, as an ontological state, and as feeling at home) to identify the extent to which these approaches provide useful lenses for studying the relationship between these two concepts in a forced migration context. Furthermore, it discusses what the sociology of emotions can add to the study of forced migrants' emotions: its strength and limitations.
