• For large-scale enterprise wireless local area networks (WLANs), wireless network planning and design constitute a key determinant of network quality. When network planning and design are not conducted in a professional manner, certain issues may occur frequently after a WLAN project is delivered. WLAN planning is based on-site surveys, which involve obtaining information such as STA type, floor height, building material and signal attenuation, interference source, new obstacles, and weak-current well location. Wireless network capacity is based on actual service requirements. In wireless office scenarios, for example, where each user possesses one laptop and one mobile phone, the STA concurrency rate is considered 40% if the service type is not specified. To estimate the number of access points (APs) needed to establish an optimized network, coverage requirements and capacity requirements need to be considered. To reduce interference between APs, pay attention to channel planning in scenarios where rooms are densely distributed.
