Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • Complementary medicine may be used along with conventional medicine, such as to alleviate stress, reduce pain and anxiety, and manage symptoms. Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine and is typically built upon systems of theory and practice, such as homeopathic and naturopathic medicine. Integrative medicine, which combines complementary therapies with mainstream patient care, has been gaining popularity among patients with cancer and other chronic illness. Certain hospitals in Singapore integrate acupuncture services into their provision of medical services. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner should ensure that the patient has consented to the treatment or procedure. Proper explanation of at least the broad nature and purpose of the treatment or procedure should be given by the TCM practitioner in order to avoid allegations under the tort of battery. The "rules and standards of the TCM profession" determine whether any conduct complained of amounts to professional misconduct.
