• Ways of demonstrating method equivalence are described in the chapter. Characteristics of various statistical tools used for this purpose are presented. Practical examples of method equivalence demonstration for different measurement data is presented too. This chapter describes ways of demonstrating method equivalence. It presents the characteristics of various statistical tools used for this purpose. The chapter then presents practical examples of method equivalence demonstration for different measurement data. Method equivalence is a measurement method other than the reference method for the measurement for which equivalence has been demonstrated. Difference tests have been widely used to answer questions about whether a disparity has been successfully addressed; however, these tests are subject to well-known limitations, and the results are sometimes misinterpreted. In equivalence testing, the null hypothesis is formulated so that the statistical test is proof of similarity; it states that the groups differ by more than a tolerably small amount. Equivalence testing is used when one wants assurance that the means do not differ by too much. In other words, the means are practically equivalent.
