Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • This chapter deals broadly with a variety of practice issues that focus on the worker's use of self in different practice situations. The worker as weaver helps the group bring out its colors, rich textures and threads, to create a magnificent panorama. In many agencies, co-therapy is the usual method of choice. The workers may also discuss ways to reach out to certain group members, focus on particular problem areas or sources of conflict, and deal with clients who may be out of control or in need of special attention. The primary challenge for the worker is to maintain a balance between using himself or herself less formally and remaining a therapeutic agent. The problematic situation that interferes with the group's growth and sometimes makes workers uncomfortable is scapegoating. Scapegoating is a reciprocal process in which group members see some unacceptable part of themselves in one group member.
