Recent developments in OMICS technology have made it feasible to study vast swathes of biological molecules, which has opened new doors in the search for biomarkers. As a result of the significant surges in resolution, sensitivity, and throughput shown in OMICS-based assays over the past several years, it is now possible to utilize these tests in human observational studies (HOS). Genotyping, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, and metabolomics are the five OMICS approaches that are now the most sophisticated, even though new OMICS methods are continually being developed. The extent to which their implementation is used in HOS can vary. On the other hand, occupational and environmental health (OEH) studies have limited their application. The OMICS area encompasses disciplines such as genomics (which concentrates on the genome), proteomics (which concentrates on vast collections of proteins, the proteome), and metabolomics (centred on massive collections of very simple molecules; the metabolome).
