• This chapter summarises the findings of the book, highlighting its conceptual and empirical contributions. It also proposes a new regional governance mechanism that may help to achieve knowledge cohesion, especially in times of digital and green transitions. The twin transition will have repercussions on the generation of knowledge and the concepts related to knowledge, such as knowledge governance. We argue that the neglect of knowledge governance and the governance of knowledge formation by the actors of the regional innovation system seem to be an important barrier for the success of next-generation innovation policies and, in turn, knowledge cohesion.
