In this chapter, the practice of literary fiction tourism has been placed within the wider context of media-based tourism and other synergistic activities which extend its reach. Tourism based on film and television programmes and literary-inspired computer games are considered as are literary events, performances, and souvenirs. These activities and products allow visitors to enter the fictional world through a variety of sensory, embodied levels, which may be disconnected from specific sites. The concept of contents tourism is introduced in this chapter as a useful way of examining these activities as this approach places emphasis on the quality of the narrative rather than the specific medium being used to convey it. The chapter features two case studies: the first explores literary and screen-based attractions based on the Durrell family in Corfu, Greece and the second examines literary-inspired meals as a means of interpreting the literary realm.
