• The Internet of Things (IoT) Security has newly become a major concern and important research topic because it directly interacts with human users. Application-layer Distributed Denial of Service attack is a cause ever-growing challenge to the availability of all smart-connected devices (IoT). These attacks hold the possible reason for homogenous harmful effects as their inferior layer. All IoT devices are connected to the internet, but the dominant part of internet is HTTP protocol which is the prime target. Through the occurrence of novel, upgrading attack programs and recognizing these attacks for all time seem complex. Increase in these attacks has led to an enthusiastic shift in internet among researchers. In current years, a significant research involvement is dedicated toward finding the techniques for countering the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) Payload Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack in IoT devices. In this chapter, we perform a review of such research contributions to follow a well-organized structured method. In this chapter, we study 45 research papers that were published before 2014 and were chosen from six different electronic libraries. This aspect includes the attack strategy dataset, tools detection attribute, and modeling methods. This area appreciates the growth of HTTP Payload DDoS attack. The point of this composed review is to discuss the most recent research recognition of these attacks by breaking down the chosen research papers to answer predefined questions. This study also discusses a variety of challenges which addressed familiar readers with suggestions for possible upcoming research direction.
