Beschreibungen/Notizen
The rst three chapters of the book set the broad context for the remainder of the book by
providing working denitions of quality of life and quality of life technologies (QoLTs),
describing who might benet from such technology, and presenting a general model of the
facilitators and barriers of technology uptake. The goal of this chapter is to describe the
use of survey methods for understanding broad user attitudes and preferences for QoLT.
These surveys would typically be conducted in the early phases of QoLT design, prior to
the development of specic technology system prototypes (although they could also be
used in later phases of the iterative design, development, and evaluation process to be
described in Chapters 5 and 6).
