Yeivin and DeShalit derived by combinatorial methods a closed formula for the statiqical weight of the states with spin T in a system of many particles with spin 1/2 and spin 1. Here a group theoretical method of derivation is given, which is applicable---contrary to the combinatorial method---also to more general cases. As an example the formula of Yeivin and DeShalit is generalized for a system of particles with spin 1/2, spin 1, and spin 3/2.
