  • For understanding scattered ultrasonic responses from various types of flaws, the flaw geometry model based on the hierarchical triangular meshing model and the Kirchhoff approximation model for the hierarchical triangular meshing model are developed. Combining the developed models with multi-Gaussian beam model for the prediction of ultrasonic beams on flaws, we develop the ultrasonic measurement model that can predict ultrasonic waves scattered from various flaws. Using the developed measurement model, we simulated the angular scattering responses for pores, cracks, and stringer-like flaws. The possibility of using such results for flaw classification studies is discussed.
