Explores the ways in which the courts and the Waitangi Tribunal have approached the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Looks at two cases which have touched on the difficult issue of climate change and the movement of people in the Pacific. Discusses some reasons why it seems timely to return to examine the current international treaty examination processes.
