Discusses the work of the Italian Renaissance painter Giovanni Bellini. Focuses on his depiction of St. Jerome as a model of a solitary life to be lived in the bosom of nature. The masterpiece among Bellinis St. Jerome pictures is the panel in the Conti Bonacossi collection in Florence that stands out for its high quality and its truly monumental format.
