• The article studies the Evangelium Nicodemi (Gospel of Nicodemus), an influential apocryphal text about Christ's Passion and Resurrection. From a point of view that concerns more Medieval Studies than Classical Studies, and that pertains more to Romance Studies (the Occitan ones particularly) than to Apocryphal Studies, the article intends to update the critical discussion about the Evangelium Nicodemi. In particular, it focuses on the Romance tradition of the text and it makes the Medieval Latin tradition of the Nicodemian apocryphon the necessary starting point for defining the main source of the Occitan poem Sens e razos d'una escriptura, better known as the 'Occitan Gospel of Nicodemus'.
