• A continual interaction between frenzied creativity and a sharp awareness of the real is the mark of the orgiastic universe, built upon a phantasy of the social as Sade distorts and corrects it. The notion of a male model as model of the Same—as single model—takes the form of phallic-anal symbolism. The corollary to this is the hierarchy of the sexes which coincides in large measure, but not to the point of fusion, with the hierarchy of master-slave and executioner-victim. We will look first at what distinguishes the sexual hierarchy from the master-slave hierarchy and then move on
