• Description: Has typical long-legged, erect whistling-duck posture. Adult with white face and patch on throat (sometimes dirty); black on back of head and nape extends around lower neck as thin band; also has rufous neck and upper breast, dark brown back, barred flanks, and black belly and undertail. Black bill and legs. In flight, underwing dark, upperwing dark, with rufous leading edge. Immature birds similar but drabber, with brown instead of black on head and nape. Similar species: Adult Black-bellied Whistling-Duck lacks white face and has bright pink (not black) bill and pink (not black) legs. Immature Black-bellied Whistling-Duck shares
