  • Witkacy’s oeuvre is difficult to assess in its entirety due to the fact that an unknown part of it was destroyed during the 1944 Warsaw uprising. Almost all his works in arts and philosophy were marked by an attempt to question a wide array of intellectual and ideological affiliations and to express a distinct and unique position within, or rather outside of, contemporary cultural life.
