The COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath will likely have disparate impacts on black business-owning households relative to their white counterparts for a number of reasons: the concentration of essential workers in specific neighborhoods, differential access to healthcare, and wealth inequality, among others. Given what we know about overall black-white wealth gaps, we might expect black households to generally be more vulnerable to the various shocks brought upon by the global health crisis.
