• In February 1928, a few days after John Logie Baird demonstrated for the first time transatlantic transmission of moving images, the New York Times published an article that contained some detail on the process that led to this remarkable achievement. The article, titled “Eye Taken from Boy Aided Television,” quotes at length Baird’s description of how he attempted to resolve the problem of the insufficient light sensitivity of the television camera, which he considered a major obstacle to realizing long-distance televisual communication.
