Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • The reasons for the swift sovietization of Bulgaria are numerous and complex. Sovietization is a multilayered process, which, on the one hand, expresses itself in Soviet infiltration of all levels of the governmental structure, while on the other, goes so far as to apply pressure on and pervade even the most intimate forms of everyday life. Another important objective precondition for the sovietization of Bulgaria was the nature and state of the bulgarian communist party. Yugoslavia established a communist regime par excellence even before Bulgaria, yet the former could not be called a sovietized country. The other real factor contributing to sovietization was Bulgaria's ever-increasing international isolation, which it was pushed toward due to its blind following of Stalinst policy. The final significant objective factor contributing to the sovietization of Bulgaria was the existing illusions concerning the nature of Soviet reality and the communist utopian ideal of a just and peaceful society.
