• Preamble: Specialization at last! After a long stumbling journey, consultation-liaison psychiatry has reached not the end of the road but an important milestone. Alas, the specialty is to be called psychosomatic medicine. Over the decades, both C-L and PM have had their identity problems, with both names and missions of their respective entities changing more often than that of any other discipline in medicine. This section will discuss how structure and organization articulate with the official declaration of the seventh specialty of psychiatry (not medicine) to fly the banner of psychosomatic medicine.
