• One of the ways to establish a viable and effective supervisory relationship from a Multicultural Relational Perspective (MRP) involves being explicit about one’s philosophy of supervision and establishing a supervision contract. By doing so, the supervisor exercises leadership in making many of the implicit elements of supervision and the accompanying process explicit. Both the explication of the supervisor’s philosophy and the execution of a contract help to clarify the expectations and rules of engagement that underpin the supervisory process. It also crystallizes the responsibilities of the supervisor and the ways in which she or he can be held accountable throughout the supervisory process.
