  • A military organization is a complex construct of elements which ought to function effectively together. Organizational culture in the military is based on shared values such as discipline, hierarchy, mission orientation and sacrifice, which are manifested in behaviors and practices. This chapter shows how similarities in the service cultures of Israeli Special Operations Forces (ISOF) and Israeli Air Force (IAF) foster collective action. Obviously not every joint operation of ISOF and IAF is successful, and there have also been cases of successful interservice cooperation that did not involve special operations. From a strategic point of view, the Israeli war arena has direct effects on interservice joint operations. The chapter deals with the cooperation between the Israel ground forces (IGF), the ISOF and the Israel air force, to analyze the narratives and perceptions of the partners in action. The analysis of the IGF narrative produced three scripts of cooperation. These are critical script, heroic script and natural script.
